2020 is almost over!
Hi folks! Its been a while since I've written on here and I feel terrible (remotely) that I haven't posted anything in months. So I believe that an update is due.
First of all 2020... wow that was a crazy year and we've still got a few weeks to go till its over.
January of 2020 I found out I was pregnant with my first! Yes, it was planned. Though, I had no idea I'd be pregnant during a pandemic. Which was insane. I'm just grateful I didn't experience Covid in the States. Finland has had an excellent grasp on the pandemic and luckily my pregnancy went smoothly. I'm so thankful for the serious concerns to peoples health out here. My husband and I welcomed my son on September 3rd 2020. I had a relatively normal labor and my son was healthy! And because I'm now a bias mom let me just say he is the cutest thing ever!
During this year I was still working on my second draft of my WIP: YSWHHW. What most people don't tell you about being pregnant is a thing called pregnancy brain. It's real and it sucks and I'm so glad I have my brain back. I already struggle with ADD so writing with ADD and having pregnancy brain was a struggle, but I didn't realize how much of a hindrance it was until after I'd finished my draft in mid August, right before BB (Baby Boy) was delivered.
I sent off my draft to beta readers thinking that there might be a few grammar issues, but not many, and felt great about it until I myself began reading it and taking notes.
Oh man...I groaned and cringed and cried my way through reading the entire draft and profusely apologized to my beta readers.
Let me just say that they are amazing people.
Reading through my draft took me three months because my son was born and I've been readjusting to motherhood life.
Its been nice to step away from the project and give myself a break from working.
Though, now that I've got my brain back to prepregnancy E.J., and can drink as much coffee as I want, things are beginning to look up and I'm ready to tackle writing again.
I've started on my third draft with my beta readers notes and my own. I'm able to plan my writing time around my son's naps and have set some new goals for myself. One of which is to write on my blog more.
2021 will be the year I fight for an agent. I know that all of the hard work I've put in will pay off.
Happy writing everyone and happy holidays!
