You know nothing...Game of Thrones Writers

Rant Rant Rant and Spoilers Spoiler Spoilers

WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE FINALE SEASON?
I just finally finished season 8 episode 6 (a little late but not unjustified... and yes I should have been writing. And I'm being a bad writer, blah. Whatever) but WHAT IN THE HELL HAPPENED?
Promises were made in the first couple of seasons and in the later seasons. Every season promised certain outcomes with the characters and then the last season didn't delivered and left me disappointed and unsatisfied.

Promises where we have Jon Snow being dumped with leadership by becoming lord commander of the Nights Watch, to being murdered, to being made King of the North, to being name Heir of the Iron Throne, and then...being manipulated into killing Daenerys (the person he loves)... and then being sent to the Night Watch instead of being made King of Westeros! But What Kind of an ending was that? Obviously I'm glad he has Ghost back but that was a really badly written ending. The entire show has been hinting/foreshadowing Jon Snow into taking the Iron Throne. Then the writers decide, no, never-mind we'd rather have him walk off with the Wildlings instead. Thanks, Jon for your loyalty and goodness, have fun in the far north now, bye.

Likewise lets talk about Arya. She would have never let Sandor "The Hound" Clegane talk her out of killing Cersei! She wouldn't be talked out of revenge! Then sent to cower in a fire and blood soaked city! Why? Why did she do this? Because apparently she didn't actually want to die? She literally worships the God of Death. She wouldn't care about dying! Her entire arc was leading her to killing Cersei! But she just apparently, on a whim, doesn't. It's so infuriating!

Now lets talk about the death of Cersei and Jamie. There deaths felt like a cop-out. Game of Thrones has made it's reputation through unexpected deaths and then how the remain characters deal with those deaths. The deaths of certain characters change the perspectives of all the other characters. That said, Cersei and Jamie's deaths were deeply unsatisfying. These are two characters that we have loathed, empathized with, loathed, rooted for, and then loathed/sympathized with. And then they die under rubble... Their deaths would have been so much more satisfying if Arya had killed Cersei and Jamie and then left to run through the burning city. But no. The most hated woman of the Seven Kingdoms dies under rubble, held crying by the man that she has loved, belittled, pushed away, and manipulated, to die together romantically, apparently. It's not tragic it's lazy.

Daenerys... If the writers weren't going to make Jon King of Westeros, then why in the Old Gods name did you rewrite Daenerys's entire character? You disservice her. You take her rightful anger and twist her into a "Mad Queen" now evil, with no reasoning with, woman! If the writers were going to turn Daenerys into a tyrant like Cersei, and have her burn innocent people that she would have never done before, then they should have done that early when she still had three dragons. This would have been way more interesting. Not the you killed my best friend now I'm going to commit genocide for no good reason. What were the writers thinking? In turning Daenerys "mad" they took one of the best story arcs away! Daenerys had endured just as much as Jon as a character. The GOT writers should have know better. Or at least if this was were they were going to take her all a long they should have never made her and Jon have sex...and haphazardly "fall in love" with each other. Or at least let her keep the freaking Iron throne! That would have completely her character arc! Give Jon an ultimatum. Something else then that awfully sad and unfulfilled death, and then kick you in the gut then her dragon realizing she's dead. I mean, for the Old Gods sake, at least have Jon run from the fire breathing angry dragon!

HBO as a network also made a promise in being a network that showed sex and violence, and where the violence was there, in the last season, the sex wasn't shown. This show got a reputation for showing the uncomfortable, the nudity, and sex. I would have liked to see all of Jamie and Brienne's sex scene! We had been been teased that since the moment those two came on screen together in the first couple of seasons. Don't gloss over that like it's a romantic comedy where we can't see anything and act like it's a PG 13 movie! Come on HBO...

I could go on. I think I've ranted enough and now I'm just tired and sad. My only hope is to be satisfied with George R. R. Martins 'The Winds of Winter' and "A Dream of Spring'. And though I know I have to wait, still, I'm more into waiting than ever before.
